Steve Jobs’ Music Poster Boy Reports iTunes Problem, Wonders If Apple Spies On Him [Bug Reports]

John Mayer is the guitarist who sometimes closes Apple events with a small gig (he comes right after you turn off the Quicktime broadcast to check the Apple Store,) and Steve Jobs’ favorite music poster boy this side of Bob Dylan. Last week, Mayer contacted Apple about a problem with iTunes using the bug reporting tool which appears after a crash. Having sent my own share of bug reports, from neutral to humorous to sarcastic to plain mad-I’m-going-to-kill-you-all-with-a-spoon, I find his diatribe rather charming and candid:

He adds in his blog:
I’ll let you know if I get a response from anyone at Apple. I wonder if somebody on the other side is really going to read it … I can hear it now, the squeak of a chair pushing away from a desk as a man grinds his cigarette into an ashtray, stands up waving a printout over his head and […]

XM/Sirius Merger: What Happens to My Current Radio? [What It Means To You]

The XM/Sirius merger is all but rubber-stamped. Obvious question: Will this new hybrid with cheaper, shinier programming come in on my current gear? Yes and no. If you keep your old radio, XM customers will keep getting their XM stuff with the added goodness of Sirius programming, and while Sirius people will get their same batch, plus the fresh crunch of XM content. You’ll need a new best-of-both-worlds radio that’s still in development to take advantage of one of the two a la carte packages that’ll be offered, however. It’ll hit the market after the merger’s got its last i’s dotted and t’s crossed. [Image via Flickr]

Rock Band Has a June 22nd Gig on the Wii [Gaming]

Finally, Harmonix has announced that Rock Band will rock its way to the Wii starting on June 22nd for $170. A special edition bundle will include the game, drums, a guitar and a mic. Gamers can also grab standalone instruments if they choose. The game will feature 63 songs (including five bonus songs), but our friends at Kotaku have discovered that there will not be any downloadable content in the foreseeable future.
Harmonix claims that they will explore online content when the Wii’s online capabilities and potential are fully realized—which may be never at this rate. It kills me to see how progressive Nintendo can be with their designs and how ass backwards they can be with regard to online play. [Kotaku]

Foot Flush Allows Hands-Free Flushing, Caters to Your OCD Tendencies [Housewares]

The Foot Flush is a bathroom mechanism that hooks to your toilet flusher and pulls the handle down when you step on the foot pedal, creating a hands-free toilet experience. It might expose your lack of taste in interior decor and make you appear socially inept. But be damned if you let that germ incubator masquerading as your bathroom launch an all-out attack on your immune system. The Foot Flush is available now for $20. [Foot Flush via MSN via DVICE]

New Airport Screening Procedure for MacBook Air (No, Really) [MacBook Air]

You might recall a couple of weeks ago, a dude got hassled by airport security because they couldn’t make sense of his MacBook Air. Turns out, it actually does look “very different” than 99 percent of the notebooks they’re used to seeing under the scanner, in a way that would “pique some interest” of security personnel, according to the TSA’s Blogger Bob.
The culprit? Its solid state drive. Which means any notebook with a SSD could’ve gotten your ass busted by the Feds. Helpfully, they’ve since distributed photos of what SSD notebooks look like to security personnel, reducing your chances of a friendly cavity search. [TSA Blog via TUAW]
