Sanyo Xacti CG9 Digital Camera Goes 9.1MP, “Chases” Faces [Digital Cameras]

Sanyo’s Xacti CG9 Camera/Camcorder thingy is an update to their more affordable line. It captures stills at 9.1MP, and unlike the higher end Xactis focused on HD video, this one is not much so. (They don’t even specify res but the preceding CG6 is rated at “DVD quality”.)
I like Xacti cams, even if the MPEG-4 compression squeezes vids a bit too hard, making them blocky. (1GB of SD card equals about an hour of vid.) Oh yes, this one has face chasing tech, which in previous models was good enough to focus/expose for 12 people at once. [Akihabara]

Transformers Watch Ads from 1980s are the Pinnacle of Advertising [Retromodo]

Three things I like very much are watches, Transformers, and 80s toy ads. This video embodies all three of those things at once, and it blows my mind. Not to mention that a pop up, Ultra Magnus action figure watch watch is the coolest thing since the pet rock. Seriously, where do I get one of these? [Gadget Lab]

This Camera Is Shocking (Sorry) [Cameras]

Forgive the headline, but it’s true! The annoying background music is ripped from Noah Kalina’s ‘net famous “everyday” video, but it’s laid over a montage of the camera’s (re)construction, which re-routes the battery’s juice through the hand of the sucker holding the camera, giving them a nasty little shock. For your own safety, if you nail someone with this, make sure they’re either a) smaller than you or b) incapacitated by the jolt. [Pyro Electro, Thanks Chris]

First Hands-On Video of Wii Wheel with Mario Kart Wii [Wii]

My buddy Stephen T over at MTV’s Multiplayer blog scored the first video demo of the Wii Wheel in Mario Kart Wii game play. Melvin at Nintendo shows him how to insert a Wiimote into the Wheel, then head to the races. Watch T manage to execute a wheelie and a powerslide, then—in the second video in the link below—try the same maneuvering sans Wheel, with far less enthusiasm. He doesn’t say whether or not it’s a true winner or a waste of plastic, but my guess is, he likes it better than this guy. His biggest gripe? No horn to honk, Maggie Simpson style. FYI: If you live in Canada, UK or Japan, MTV hates your guts. [MTV Multiplayer]

T-Mobile is now carrying the Nokia 3555. A slim flip phone in a lovely blue shade, the 3555 looks a lot like AT&T’s Nokia 6555. It offers a mid-range selection of features including a VGA camera, stereo Bluetooth, text and multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, …

Apple Giving Two Free Episodes to Season Pass Holders, Courtesy of Writers Strike [ITunes]

iTunes Season Pass holders who got hosed by the writers strike when their shows went away are getting a little bit back from Apple. Specifically, every Season Pass holder gets two free episodes worth of store credit, which can be spent on TV shows, music vids or short films. Naturally, if a season didn’t finish out—say only 15 of 23 episodes will air, you’ll get credit back for the other eight episodes, too. [Macworld]
